2nd woman: Michigan State coach knew of sex assaults by doctor

Head gymnastics coach Kathie Klages suspended amidst Nassar investigation

Reached Tuesday, Klages' attorney, Shirlee Bobrik, says she'll be issuing a written statement shortly. In court documents filed today, the woman claims Coach Klages told her there was "no reason to bring up Nassar's conduct". The fourth was in her 30s and sought treatment for knee pain. "The coach intimidated her, cross examined her, marshaled other athletes with the university and other teammates on the junior MSU gymnastics team, and had other adults essentially intimidate her out of filing". "She feels betrayed and she'll have to deal with that for the rest of her life".

According to the Lansing State Journal, an email was received from MSU Associate Athletic Director Richard Bader to multiple people associated with the team. I write this afternoon that Coach Klages was suspended from her coaching duties this morning.

While Michigan State hasn't said if Klages' suspension was linked to the Nassar investigation, Mittleman sees it as a small victory for his clients. "When bad guys are enabled and allowed to run free and unchecked with knowledge, and failing to protect the young girls and women, Michgian state has to realize responsibility and become accountable". He says if they don't, they could face both criminal charges and civil liabilities.

The women's gymnastics coach at Michigan State University was suspended Monday, two weeks after she was accused in a lawsuit of downplaying complaints about sexual abuse by a sports doctor. Nassar was a Michigan State doctor who also worked for USA Gymnastics, which trains Olympians. She says Klages asked her if Nassar had penetrated her vagina with his fingers.

Mike Rowe will serve as the interim head coach for the team.
