Three people found dead in water tank in NSW town of Gunning

Police were called to a property just off the Hume Highway where three people had died

The deaths are not being treated as suspicious.

It is understood relatives of the deceased, thought to be in their 60s, have been notified.

Three people have been found dead inside a water tank on a rural NSW property in what could be a gas poisoning incident.

Emergency services were called to the home in Gunning, in the state's Southern Tablelands, at about 6.20pm on Thursday night.

Police said a man aged in his 60s was working inside the cement water tank on his property in Gunning, near Yass, when he collapsed.

Police have been told a second man and a woman went to his assistance, but also collapsed.

Sadly, the woman and two men died before emergency services arrived.

The deaths are not being treated as suspicious.

All three were found dead inside the water tank by a neighbour a short time later. A brief will be prepared for the information of the Coroner, as officers from the Hume Local Area Command have established a crime scene to be examined by forensic officers.
