Disney has proven once more that audiences have a thirst for live-action remakes of its animated classics.

The Saturday box office of £7.9m was the second highest grossing Saturday ever, only behind Star Wars: The Force Awakens. The "Tale as Old as Time" is likely to become the fifth highest grossing three-day opening of all-time, and the highest grossing three-day opening weekend for a PG-rated movie ever.

Beauty And The Beast now has the biggest opening ever for a musical in the United Kingdom, ahead of Universal's Les Miserables (£8.13m).

Disney's live-action "Beauty and the Beast" movie opened with an estimated $170 million in USA ticket sales, setting a new mark for family movies. A dazzling $22.8M in the United Kingdom gave BATB the highest grossing 3-day opening weekend ever for a PG title; and China opened to $44.8M for the biggest-ever Disney Live Action launch weekend.

"Beauty and the Beast" director Bill Condon would love to work with Lindsay Lohan on "The Little Mermaid" if he was invited to take charge of Disney's latest revamp.

There's one scene where Beast and Belle are transported through a magical book to Belle's childhood home in Paris and whilst it was great in providing us with a nice little backstory about Belle it seemed a little out of place and a bit of a filler to stretch the film out. Despite her fears, Belle befriends with the beast and learns to look to beyond his ugly exterior and realize the kind heart and soul of the true Prince within.

The film starring Emma Watson, Dan Stevens, and Luke Evans also earned $180 million overseas for a global total of $350 million, according to THR.
