Jet Skiers Saved From Clash With Cruise Ship

2 women rescued as cruise ship bears down on them at Port Canaveral

A cruise ship passenger on board the Carnival Magic recorded a video of the entire incident, where you can really see just how close the massive vessel came to the two jet skiers.

Video posted on YouTube by a cruise ship passenger shows Primmer pulling off a daring last-second rescue, pulling both women onto his patrol boats before the cruise ship comes within feet. Two young women from Princeton, West Virginia, Allison Garrett, 20, and Skylar Penpasuglia, 19, were operating a personal watercraft in the port.

"This is Skylar Pentasuglia, the second one to be pulled up on the boat by Deputy Taner Primmer".

The jet ski flipped, dumping the passengers into the water, "in extremely close proximity to the bow of the ship" that was "bearing down on their position". Brown then directed the cruise ship away from the jet skiers while Primmer helped them to safety and sped away.

Anthony Miglioranzi, 29, of Port Orange, said he and cruise passengers were "prepared for the worst" when they said their cruise ship, Carnival Magic, almost struck two jet ski riders on Saturday.

While there might seem to be plenty of room for everyone out on the open ocean, a marine traffic incident nearly led to a group of jet skiers getting run over by a Carnival Cruise Line ship in a Florida harbor.

Capt. Doug Brown was navigating the Carnival Magic cruise ship out of the port when he noticed the jet skiers nearby, according to the statement.

Once the two were out of the water, Primmer moved his boat and the spring breakers to safety.

Brevard Sheriff Wayne Ivey thanked Primmer and Brown for their quick actions to rescue the women.

I just wanted to take a minute to thank Deputy Tanner Primmer for rescuing me and my best friend yesterday.
