'Power Rangers' Actor Admits To Killing Roommate With Sword

'Power Rangers' TV Actor Admits Killing Roommate; Faces 6 Years Behind Bars

Medina is accused of getting into an argument with his roommate, Josh Sutter, 36, over his girlfriend at their Green Valley home in January 2015.

Medina was arrested at the time of Sutter's death but was released within days after prosecutors asked for further investigation into the high-profile case.

Variety magazine reports that due to his guilty plea on the lesser charge, the actor is now likely to face a term of six years in prison, rather than 26 years to life. According to The Huffington Post, Medina claimed the stabbing was in self-defense.

Note: An earlier version of this story stated that Medina pleaded no contest, based on the initial report from Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office. The L.A. Daily News noted that Medina was arrested again in January 2016 and charged with murder, and he has remained behind bars since then.

Actor Ricardo Medina is pictured at the Lambda Legal Liberty Awards at the Egyptian Theater on September 28, 2005, in Hollywood. "You have an individual here that was the victim of a beating in the kitchen area before he went to the bedroom and closed and locked the door in order to secure himself from any continuing violence".

Medina played the Red Lion Wild Force Ranger on the popular "Power Rangers Wild Force" children's television series.

"Josh don't have that in his heart to attack anybody". At the time, the DA's office said the matter still was being investigated and that it would not rule out going after Medina again down the line - which it did on January 14 past year, with a new murder charge and bail set at $1 million.

He has also appeared in an episode of ER and one of CSI: Miami.
