Xiaomi maintains affordable approach, launches octa-core Redmi Note 4 at RM799

The Xiaomi Redmi 4A is the successor to the 1S, and it comes for just Rs 5999

Xiaomi is said to be working on a so-called Redmi Pro 2, which is a new and improved version of its predecessor launched in 2016. Neither the invite, nor the Amazon teaser spell out the words Redmi 4A per se, but it is nearly entirely confirmed that it is the Redmi 4A in question. It will go on sale in India from 21 March via Amazon.

The Redmi 4 Prime might launch as is (as the "Prime" moniker is already used on the previous phone) but with different specs.

It all depends on the variant Xiaomi decides to launch in India.

Xiaomi has been constantly expanding its product portfolio around China and India. The teaser on Amazon carries the same "Time to get Smarter" tagline, which the Xiaomi invite carries for an event on Monday. Later on, the company even announced the Redmi 4X as a follow up smartphone in the Redmi 4 series of smartphones. In Northern region, the Chinese company Xiaomi has revealed that the Redmi Note 4 (Review) will be available in offline stores in Delhi, Jaipur, and Chandigarh. Looking at the high demand in offline markets and obviously the limitations, Xiaomi has made a decision to go offline with the Redmi Note 4.

Launched previous year in China back in November, the Redmi 4A was released along with the Redmi 4 and Redmi 4 Prime.

To recall, the Redmi 4 features a 5 inch HD display, octa core Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor, 2 GB RAM, 13 MP rear camera, 5 MP front camera, 16 GB ROM, and 4,100 mAh battery. The device boasts a 13MP primary shooter and a 5MP selfie snapper. The phone runs Android Marshmallow with MIUI 8 on top of it.

After a fair bit of success with Redmi Note 3 and Redmi 3S last year and with Redmi Note 4 this year, Xiaomi is buckling up with another victor in the budget smartphone category.

Xiaomi had launched the Redmi Note 4 in three variants - the 2GB RAM/ 32GB inbuilt storage model has been priced at Rs. 9,999, the 3GB RAM/ 32GB storage model has been priced at Rs. 10,999, while the 4GB RAM/ 64GB storage model has been priced at Rs. 12,999.

Amazon India is also accepting registrations for regular notifications on the upcoming Redmi device, and details on when it will launch.
