Dani Alves to leave Juventus

The 34-year-old maintained his superb form at the Italian club last season after making the move from Barcelona.

Alves joined Juventus from Barcelona last summer after a glittering eight-year spell at Camp Nou made him one of the most decorated players of all time, while also firmly establishing himself as one of the best defenders in the world.

Alves would bring a wealth of experience and a winning attitude to the Etihad as Guardiola tries to instil his philosophy at City.

But rewind to 2009, when Manchester City were just starting to make their way into the upper echelons of the Premier League following a takeover, and Alves had no idea the club existed.

City do not have an experienced right-back after releasing out-of-contract duo Pablo Zabaleta and Bacary Sagna.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is apparently keen to be reunited with the player he enjoyed so much succssBarcelona.

Juventus tackles the problem of Dani Alves. I'll say it again. The right-back was particularly outstanding in the semi-final victory against Monaco, getting involved in his side's first three goals over the two-legged tie before scoring the fourth.

Manchester City have agreed a deal for Benfica's Brazilian goalkeeper Emerson Moraes for a fee of 40 million euros.

Dani Alves understands the "tiki-taka" style of play which is what Guardiola has and will continue to use in the foreseeable future.

Two right-backs, Pep? What are you scheming?

And ahead of the game, the four time Champions League victor stirred the pot a little bit when he admitted he only found out about City's existence when they were taken over by Abu Dhabi United Group, in 2009.
