Police arrest suspect in SC beach shooting captured on video

Several people are recovering in SC hospitals after a gunman opened fire in a shooting that was broadcast on Facebook Live.

According to a Myrtle Beach Police Department news release, prior to the officers arriving on the scene, a fight began between individuals. One of the individuals pulled out a gun and shot the person he was fighting. An armed security officer witnessed the shooting and shot the gunman, who carjacked a vehicle and got away as he sprayed gunfire.

Police say six other people were shot, and all were taken to local hospitals, none with life-threatening injuries.

Myrtle Beach police have identified and apprehended a suspect in the overnight shooting on Ocean Boulevard, according to Lieutenant Joey Crosby of Myrtle Beach Police. The alleged shooter then shot numerous rounds and escaped the scene by carjacking a vehicle, police confirm. The security officer involved was also injured and treated at the scene.

Crosby said no officer was shot, though a patrol auto was hit by gunfire.

The MBPD is still investigating.

The incident was the third shooting in Myrtle Beach within 12 hours.
