Indonesian police: 4 foreign inmates escape from Bali prison

Australian man Shaun Davidson has escaped from Kerobokan Prison

Malaysian man, Tee Kok King, 50, is understood to be serving seven-and-a-half- years for drug offences.

Four foreign prisoners have tunnelled out of jail on Indonesia's tourist island of Bali, including an Australian man who was going to be freed within months, police said Monday.

Four foreigners - including Australian Shaun Edward Davidson - escaped from the prison via a tunnel.

Shaun was sentenced to one year in jail back in September last year for using a fraudulent travel document.

Andrew Chan and Myuran Sukumaran, the alleged ringleaders, were executed by firing squad in April 2015 despite pleas for mercy from their families, who said the two men had been "fully rehabilitated" after nearly a decade in prison.

However, the 33-year-old faced deportation after his sentence finished and was known to have been wanted in Perth for drug offences. He was found in possession of 22g of methamphetamines at the time of his arrest.

When Davidson arrived in Bali in January 2015 he said he spent several months just "partying and boxing" before arousing the suspicion of authorities when he signed into a Kuta guest house under a passport with the name Michael John Bayman - claiming the photo was taken when he was "chubby".

The Indonesian police believe that the men are still in Bali and not far from the prison. He fled Perth for Bali after being charged with drug offences.

Prabawa said the four men were believed to have escaped through a 50-by-70-centimeter (20-by-28-inch) hole found in a wall that connects to a 15-meter-long (49-foot-long) water tunnel heading toward a main street.

Sayed Mohammad Said was last seen by another prisoner during morning prayers and again at 6.30am. "It's pretty hard for some of the locals - if you don't have money to get food you don't eat".

Last week, dozens of inmates escaped from an overcrowded prison in western Indonesia after floods caused a wall to collapse. It gives them something to look forward to.
