Trump publicly acknowledges Russia probe includes him

His comments follow revelations that special counsel Robert Mueller is examining whether Trump obstructed justice by firing FBI Director James Comey.

Since Attorney General Jeff Sessions has recused himself, Rosenstein is the Justice Department official directly responsible for matters relating to the investigation of Russian interference in the USA presidential election of 2016, including any possible role played by people associated with Donald Trump's campaign.

The memo from the transition's general counsel directs all staffers and volunteers who worked on the Trump transition to "preserve any written well as any electronic information" related to Russia, Ukraine and any foreign travel by Trump transition members.

"Concerns are already being raised - including about Mueller's friendship with [former FBI Director James] Comey and his staff-packing with anti-Trump partisans". And Democrats and Republicans alike have criticized his use of Twitter, particularly amid the ongoing investigation into Russia's interference in the 2016 presidential election.

"They made up a phony collusion with the Russians story, found zero proof, so now they go for obstruction of justice on the phony story. Witch Hunt" he tweeted from the White House shortly before a day trip to Miami.

The special counsel is following two major lines of investigation, said one source.

During a congressional hearing, Coats and Rogers both denied having been pressured by Trump to suppress the FBI's investigation.

"Crooked H destroyed phones w/ hammer, "bleached" emails, & had husband meet w/AG days before she was cleared- & they talk about obstruction?" A spokesman for Trump's personal attorney had strong words in response to the news.

President Donald Trump has told his Twitter followers they are witnessing the "single greatest witch hunt in American history".

The most explosive was a June 14 report in The Post that Mueller's probe "now includes an examination of whether President Trump attempted to obstruct justice".

"I am being investigated for firing the FBI Director by the man who told me to fire the FBI Director!" "I'm not talking about campaigns".

Yet Trump's angry tweets on Friday underscored the near-impossible challenge his advisers and legal team have in trying to get him to avoid weighing in on an active probe.

"Despite so many false statements and lies, total and complete vindication ... and WOW, Comey is a leaker!" he wrote.
