Vietnamese people celebrate International Yoga Day

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will share his thoughts with people in the 33rd edition of his "Mann Ki Baat" programme on June 25. The journey connected thousands of minds, spreading the message of yoga for well-being.

On the same day, courtesy of Indian ambassador to Zimbabwe, Masakui Rungsung, guests will also watch International Cricket Council Champions Trophy final between India and Pakistan as well as a blood donation. He said chief minister was opposing International Yoga Day celebration when internationally acclaimed Bihar School of Yoga was engaged in making Yoga more popular across the world.

The Indian Ambassador to the US, Navtej Sarna, said it was a moving sight to see people turning up in large numbers at the heart of the US capital for the event.

Hundreds of yoga enthusiasts gathered today at the historic National Mall here to observe the third International Yoga Day by flexing their bodies in various postures. The day has "actually brought this ancient discipline, philosophy and practice from India into the hearts and lives of people in every corner of the globe".

The Ministry of Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy (AYUSH) has been working tirelessly to make the International Yoga Day functions across the country and world a grand success.

"Since UN declared yoga day June 21 has become a yoga festival day in all big and small cities in China", Manmohan Singh Bhandari, an Indian yoga expert who along with his Chinese wife Yin Yan runs yoga training school Yogi Yoga, told PTI here.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Amit Shah will perform Yoga in Ahmedabad. Information and Broadcasting Minister M Venkaiah Naidu will be present in Delhi.

Union Ministers Ravi Shankar Prasad, Nitin Gadkari, J.P. Nadda, Smriti Irani, Dharmendra Pradhan and Piyush Goyal will take part in International Yoga Day functions at Patna, Nagpur, Chandigarh, Kochi, Bhubaneswar, Visakhapatnam respectively.

"In terms of the quality of participation of Yoga practitioners from India, the number of events at different locations in China and the expected outreach to Chinese Yoga lovers, the series of events planned for this year are poised to reach new heights", the embassy said.

Speaking on the occasion, High Commissioner Taranjit Singh Sandhu highlighted the efforts led by Prime Minister Modi in the United Nations declaring June 21 as the International Day of Yoga.
