"It's been five years that I've been here". He gets on with his job, he takes knocks. When you get a bit stuck and teams park the bus against you, you end up going wide. "I'm focused on my pre-season".

Any true Premier League title contender needs a super sub, and goals have more of an impact when they're scored late in games anyway.

The Hammers have been linked with a host of other attackers including Kelechi Iheanacho, Javier Hernandez, Anthony Modeste and Cedric Bakambu in recent weeks.

To lose Giroud would be a mistake, though.

But with the emergence of Alexis Sanchez and now Lacazette, Giroud would spend even more time on the bench.

Olivier Giroud's career is at a crossroads, with his time at Arsenal coming to an end a real possibility during the summer transfer window. That, and the well known list of priorities, hasn't stopped some fans wishing for a striker.

Daniel Sturridge is out of favour with Klopp at the moment, with the Reds playing a front three of Sadio Mane, Philippe Coutinho and Roberto Firmino for much of last season, and Saunders feels Giroud would make an ideal Plan B for the team.

Following that news, West Ham have dropped to a long-shot 16/1 to sign the French international, and PL rivals Everton are now strong favourites.

"I think Giroud could play for Liverpool", the Welshman told the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast. He is not a top-level striker and a guaranteed starter, but he remains a very useful option.

Lucas Perez and Theo Walcott could both be disposed of before Arsenal need to consider losing the Frenchman, but if Giroud is determined to pursue a move elsewhere after seeing Lacazette arrive, then it may be in Arsenal's best interests to let him leave. Either way, his celebrations, or lack of them, won't be the factor that reveals his fate.
