CBEC launches GST app to clear doubts

In the latest move by the center, Indian Finance Minister Arun Jaitley has launched GST Finder App. It also be available on android platform and will soon be available on iOS platform.

The Finance Ministry informed that the mobile app can be downloaded on any smartphone and works in offline mode also. Goods and Services Tax (GST), rolled out from July 1, unifies 17 different taxes like excise, service tax and VAT and will transform India into a single market for seamless transfer of goods and services.

Below is the sneak picture of the GST Rate Finder app which is launched in order to create awareness about the different tax slabs introduced under this major tax reform. The Ministry further elaborated that using the app a taxpayer can search for applicable CGST, SGST, UTGST rate and compensation cess on a supply under the new indirect tax regime. The central government has made the GST in initiation shape 1 July and has propelled GST Rates Finder Mobile App to give precise duty rate data. The launch of the GST rates mobile app by CBEC was done with a sole objective of facilitating the ease of doing business in India initiative, Finance Ministry added. "Now find out the correct rate of #GST on goods & services through a mobile app launched by @FinMinIndia", Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad tweeted. "The search result will list all the goods and services containing the name which is typed in the search box", the ministry statement added.

Click the products name emerged in the list, the tax rate will appear.

"Following an extensive research, the report concludes that less than half the population of India; 45 per cent to be precise, is aware of the new tax system". The taxpayers can get a GST rate finder on its portal http://cbec-gst.gov.in to know about applicable GST rate on their supplies.
