IDF: Israel-Controlled Golan Heights Shelled From Syrian Territory

US threats and actions in Syria are those of a rogue state

A day earlier, the Israeli air force struck a mortar launcher belonging to the Assad regime in the Syrian Golan Heights after errant fire hit northern Israel.

"The errant projectile is a result of internal fighting in Syria", the IDF said in a statement.

Two projectiles landed in Israel within one hour on Saturday. "No injuries reported", the IDF said on its Twitter page.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned after the latest incident on Wednesday that the Israeli army will respond to any such attacks.

Daniel also explained why Israel's northern region has recently seen an increase of spillover fire.

On Sunday, Israel attacked a Syrian army units after in response to spillover.

Israel captured the Golan Heights from Syria in the 1967 Six Day War and later extended its sovereignty over the area in 1981 in a move that was never recognized by the worldwide community.

That is the fifth shelling incident in the Golan Heights within a week.

The Israeli military tightened the northern border of the occupied Golan Heights in the summer of 2015, reportedly in an effort to prevent access to Syria by Druze living in the occupied area who said they would cross the border in order to protect their brethren in the ongoing Syrian civil war.
