The administration faces a Monday deadline, imposed by Congress, to affirm that Tehran is abiding by restrictions on its nuclear program, for which it receives sanctions relief.

He made the remarks upon his arrival to NY, while he was questioned by reporters about his reaction to the news that Trump administration is going to verify, for the second time, Iran's adherence to the nuclear deal.

"We believe that the U.S. officials should revise the way they treat the agreement because otherwise they are not helping to let the agreement survive", said the Iranian foreign minister.

As a candidate and president, Trump said he would re-examine and possibly abandon the Iran nuclear deal signed under President Barack Obama.

That's not to say that the deal will definitely outlive the Trump administration.

Despite a speech before AIPAC in March 2016, where Trump said his "number one priority is to dismantle the disastrous deal with Iran", aides told The Weekly Standard the president's support is grudging - and he could change his mind before the deadline.

As part of the deal, the U.S. State Department is required to update Congress on Iran's compliance every 90 days.

"The worldwide accord successfully blocked Iran's paths to a nuclear weapon and has greatly strengthened the security of the United States and our allies", the letter stated. "That's what the strategy review is focused on, and until it's complete, it's hard to know what is the best resolution" on Iran policy, the official said.

"The worst deal I think I've ever seen negotiated that you started is the Iran deal. We share responsibility to make sure that this continues to be implemented fully by all".
