Chelsea To Make £35m Bid For Oxlade-Chamberlain

Chelsea Make £25m Move For Arsenal Star

Initial rumors put his price at £25m, but that seemed far too low, even with just one year left on his contract (which apparently Arsenal are more than happy to run down because silly reasons).

Chelsea have made a £25million move to sign Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, according to reports.

Oxlade-Chamberlain is the final year of his contract and is demanding a wage increase from £65,000 to £120,000, which is way off what Arsenal are reportedly prepared to give him.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has backed "hugely talented" Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to continue improving his all-round game, amid suggestions that he is wanted by Premier League rivals.

The Daily Star has revealed that the Blues have raised their bid after they initially offered £25 million for the 23-year-old.

Blues' boss Antonio Conte is an admirer of the England worldwide and is keen to add him to his squad as he prepares for a return to the Champions League.

However, considering one of the key reasons for the former Southampton man to leave Arsenal is the fact that he wants to play in centre midfield suggests the move might not go through, unless Chelsea agree to give Oxlade-Chamberlain a go in his preferred position.

"Yes [he is part of my plans], I think in his career he had some bad moments because he had some small injuries", Wenger said on Wednesday.

Oxlade-Chamberlain's future has been a subject of much discussion since the end of last season, with Liverpool, Manchester United and West Ham all being credited with an interest in the 23-year-old. Today he is conscious of his qualities.
