'Dukes of Hazzard' actor arrested in Waltham

Tom Wopat, who starred on "Dukes of Hazzard", was arrested for indecent assault and battery in Waltham, TMZ reported.

The Boston Globe added that NY resident Wopat pleaded not guilty at his arraignment in Waltham District Court on charges of indecent assault and battery and cocaine possession.

Wopat was supposed to play Julian Marsh in "42nd Street" at the Waltham-based Reagle Music Theatre of Greater Boston starting today.

Further information was not immediately available.

Wopat, 65, was arrested in his auto, said a statement from the Waltham, Mass., Police Department.

Police were actively looking for Wopat Wednesday night and pulled him over in his Ford Bronco. He said he flirts, and likes to be friendly, but "nothing that could be considered inappropriate".

Waltham Police Department Det Sgt Tim King told the BBC: "During an inventory search of Mr Wopat and his vehicle, two bags of white powder believed to be cocaine were discovered". The play is supposed to open with a Thursday matinee, and according to the box office. show will go on with Wopat. In 2005 he appeared in his first Broadway drama as part of the ensemble in the Tony-winning (for best revival of a play) production of Glengarry Glen Ross with Alan Alda and Liev Schreiber.
