Latavius Murray activated, taken off Vikings PUP list

Vikings activate Latavius Murray from PUP list, Riley Reiff returns to practice

The Minnesota Vikings have officially activated running back Latavius Murray from the team's active/physically unable to perform (PUP) list, the franchise announced on Monday afternoon.

"The veteran running back signed with Minnesota in March, disclosing at the time that he would need ankle surgery", reads the Vikings' official statement regarding the matter. Vikings coach Mike Zimmer said last Wednesday that Reiff was soon to return.

Murray was selected to the Pro Bowl in 2015 after rushing for 1,066 yards and six touchdowns with the Oakland Raiders.

Murray is expected to compete for carries with second-round draft pick Dalvin Cook and Jerick McKinnon.

The Vikings also signed Reiff as a free agent this offseason but he suffered a back injury in the opening practice and had been out since.

The Vikings open their preseason schedule at Buffalo on Thursday (6 p.m. on Fox 9, with a special edition of Vikings Gameday Live at 5:30 p.m.).
