National Basketball Association player Zach Randolph arrested on pot charge in Watts

Zach Randolph Arrested for Weed In LA ... Crowd Turns Hostile

Three people then grabbed at their waistbands and ran away from the scene, and officers pursued them.

Officers were investigating a disturbance near a housing project when they found a large group of people smoking and blocking the roadway, police say.

When officers tried to clear the street, the crowd got rowdy according to ABC7.

Another person who was arrested was an ex-convict in possession of a gun, police told TMZ. In 2003, as Portland was trying to shed the Jail Blazer era, he was charged for driving under the influence following a police stop when officers smelled marijuana in his vehicle.

"A dispersal order was given", Madison said, adding skirmish lines were formed by the LAPD Devonshire division before five LAPD patrol cars and one L.A. County Sheriff's Department vehicle were vandalized. In 2010, he was linked to a police investigation in Indianapolis after a vehicle registered in his name was found in a suspected drug house. His bail is set at $20,000.

Since the news broke, Randolph's agent and attorney Raymond Brothers called the charges are false and misleading.

Randolph, 36, is a two-time NBA All-Star who was drafted by the Trail Blazers in 2001.

He had a long stint with the Memphis Grizzles until he signed a two-year deal with the Sacramento Kings in July. A year ago the 6-foot-9 power forward averaged 14.1 points, 8.2 rebounds and 1.7 assists in 73 games for the Grizzlies.

The current Sacramento Kings player was arrested by LAPD near an apartment complex.
