Amid touchdownless season, Cincinnati Bengals fire offensive coordinator

The Bengals made the first step toward digging out from their historically bad start, replacing offensive coordinator Ken Zampese a day after they again failed to get into the end zone. He was the quarterbacks coach through the entirety of Palmer's career in Cincinnati and for all of Andy Dalton's time there, short of the past two seasons since he ascended in the hierarchy to offensive coordinator.

The Bengals did not miss an extra point to get to nine either, which means they are touchdown-less on the season despite having played both their games in the friendly home confines of Paul Brown Stadium.

The Bengals opened the season with a 20-0 loss to Baltimore followed by Thursday night's 13-9 loss to the Houston Texans.

"I feel Bill can progress our offense the way we need", Lewis said on "We have a lot of talent on offense, and we need to keep working to take full advantage of the personnel we have", said Lewis.

Zampese, 50, was the Bengals' quarterbacks coach from 2003-15.

The struggles continued into the start of this season, despite the Bengals spending their top-two draft picks on skill position players for their offense. "We're not doing a good enough job".

It's hard to tell if Green is more frustrated with the play calling or Dalton. The offensive line has not held up the way the Bengals hoped it might.

"Trust me, things have happened very fast", Lazor said in a conference call Friday afternoon, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer.

Through two games, the 29-year-old pass catcher has produced only 10 receptions on 18 targets for 141 yards. "We are going to have to look at it and see what we can do differently". "You have to find a way to get me the ball and we are not doing that right now".
