Arsenal confident of Lemar deal

Arsenal Transfer News: Latest Rumours on Thomas Lemar, Mesut Ozil Contract

Arsenal failed to prise him away from Monaco on deadline day owing to "genuine problems in pushing the deal through in time", as Lemar was on global duty with France.

The Daily Star is reporting that a deal with Monaco has been "agreed in principle" to bring the 21-year-old France global to The Emirates in the new year.

However, it looks as though the Gunners have stolen a march on their rivals as the Daily Star claim today that Arsenal have resurrected their £92m deal and have agreed terms in principal with Monaco to sign Lemar in January.

That deal is claimed to be worth a staggering £250,000-a-week and is does not hinge on Sanchez leaving the club, who Wenger still hopes will sign a new deal to stay at the club.

The French global provided 14 goals and 17 assists to help fire Monaco to the Ligue 1 title last season and that form attracted interest from the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool.

However, by the time the next transfer window ends, Sanchez will have just five months remaining on his contract with the Gunners, which could see his value drop to less than £30m.

Arsenal will allegedly return for Lemar next year having missed out last month, but the France worldwide may be spoilt for choice, as United allegedly prepare a move to land him as Mourinho's new winger.
