David Johnson Suffers Sprained Wrist

Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford throws against the Arizona Cardinals during the first half of an NFL football game in Detroit Sunday Sept. 10 2017

"David is seeking a second opinion, it's a dislocated wrist that would require surgery". If the original prognosis is confirmed, the injury is the same as the one that sidelined rookie T.J. Logan in the preseason. According to multiple reports, he could miss anywhere from two weeks to several months.

"It's always a huge blow to lose a top player, but it's not the end of the world". It's an opportunity for someone to step up.

While Arizona's pass protection held up adequately through most of the first quarter of three offensive possessions, it struggled to open holes for running back David Johnson.

There is an immediate positive sign as the x-rays performed on the injury have already come back negative with no breaks or fractures. "And we'll see what's out there", Arians said.

Arians' comments confirm a report from NFL Network's Ian Rapoport that Johnson is expected to miss an "extended period" of time due to his wrist injury. Williams scored on a 3-yard run on Sunday.

When asked about Chris Johnson, Arians said the return of the former Cardinals running back is a possibility. Johnson dazzled for last year's Cardinals team, emerging as a full-time starter.

Johnson had 11 carries for 23 yards and six catches for 68 yards in the season opener.

He was hoping to chase history again in 2017, after finishing last season 121 yards from becoming just the third National Football League player in history to gain 1000 rushing and receiving yards.

John Wetzel will replace Humphries at left tackle. He was diagnosed with a sprained wrist and underwent further testing Monday. "I'm sure he'll bounce back".
