Third train accident in a day, goods train derailed in Khandala

Soon afterwards, the engine and power vehicle of the Ranchi- Delhi Rajdhani Express derailed near Minto Bridge at 11:45 am as it was approaching the Delhi station, injuring one person and raising questions about the safety of passengers. No casualties or injuries were reported in the incident as the train was travelling at a very low speed, said spokesperson for the Northern Railways Neeraj Sharma.

This is the sixth incident of train derailment in the past 20 days.

On September 3, four loaded wagons of a goods train derailed near Hardattpur railway station on Saturday. Making a hat-trick today, two coaches of a goods train derailed near Khandala in Maharashtra, said a report in ANI. No one was hurt.Derailed engine of Ranchi Rajdhani. No injuries were reported in this derailment. As all the passengers of both the trains are safe, New Railway Minister must have felt a sigh of relief.

"The accident occurred at around 6.25 am this morning and we have already cleared out the site".

On August 19, 22 people had been killed and over 150 injured when 13 coaches of the Kalinga-Utkal Express derailed near Muzaffarnagar in UP.

However, on Thursday, despite two derailments happening within hours of each other, there was a studied silence from the top brass of the railway ministry with neither minister Goyal nor Railway Board chief Lohani issuing any statement on the mishap.
