At 7:14 a.m. Thursday, the Kenosha County Sheriff's Department responded to the 7500 block of 18th Street (Highway L) in Somers, after it was reported that an animal, possibly a kangaroo, was loose.

A kangaroo escaped from a Somers pumpkin farm Thursday morning and hopped around town before being spotted by residents, according to the Kenosha News.

"Investigation revealed this to be the case", Sgt. Mark Malecki said in a statement.

It was determined that that [sic] the kangaroo exited it's [sic] confine from Jerry Smith's Farm (7150 18th Street) possibly by kicking the confine gate. The kangaroo then reportedly wandered west on 18th Street, police said.

After Jerry Smith's Farm was contacted, the five-year-old kangaroo was safely returned without injury to anyone.
