Mar-a-Lago Irma Evacuation Ordered

Deadly Irma approaches Florida as Cat 4 hurricane reports of Tornado touchdown

The Le Chateau des Palmiers on the island of St. Martin was in the direct path of then-category 5 Hurricane Irma on Wednesday, the Washington Post reported.

After early-morning Twitter hammering of Republicans, and another Democratic debt deal victory lapping, President Donald Trump's thoughts turned to sending a dire video message to those in the path of Hurricane Irma.

Afterwards, Hurricane Irma continued on a path that saw it inflict varying amounts of damage on Puerto Rico, the Domincan Republic, Haiti, and Turks and Caicos, among others.

"From Texas to Louisiana, from Florida to Puerto Rico, and always the US Virgin Islands, and everywhere in between that has been affected by these awful storms: we will endure and come back stronger than ever before", he said.

In addition, a state of emergency has been declared for the whole of Florida by both state Gov. Rick Scott and President Trump.

Although the storm is now at Category 3 strength, forecasters have warned that the hurricane could strengthen before making landfall.

President Trump holed up at Camp David with his entire cabinet Saturday for a day of team-building sessions, hurricane briefings and strategy meetings.

Our incredible U.S. Coast Guard saved more than 15,000 lives last week with Harvey. "Here comes Irma. God bless everyone!"

"It's the safest place in the world for a hurricane", said Anthony Senecal, Trump's longtime butler and Mar-a-Lago's unofficial historian, in an interview with The Associated Press past year.

Trump, who gave the assurance in a tweet and his weekly address to the country on Saturday, pointed out that Hurricane Irma was of epic proportion.

The alert said residents should relocate to a hotel or shelter on the mainland.
