The Last Jedi novelization won't be released until after the movie

Looper Joseph Gordon Levitt Rian Johnson

For me, I was entirely focused on Episode VIII and having this experience. A few days later Lucasfilm announced via StarWars.com that J.J. Abrams will write and direct the sequel finale.

The film is written and directed by Rian Johnson (Brick, Looper) and stars Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker, Carrie Fisher as General Leia Organa, Adam Driver as Kylo Ren, Daisy Ridley as Rey, John Boyega as Finn, Lupita Nyong'o as Maz Kanata, Oscar Isaac as Poe Dameron, Domhnall Gleeson as General Hux, Anthony Daniels as C-3PO, Gwendoline Christie as Captain Phasma, and Andy Serkis as Supreme Leader Snoke. Will Johnson return to direct?

We are almost, almost, almost done. Now I'm just thinking about putting the movie out there and seeing how audiences respond to it. Johnson has also said over and over again, specifically to followers of his Twitter account, that The Last Jedi will not be a copy and rehash of Episode IV. "That's the first time I'm revealing that".

Looking at the cutout image of the Praetorian guard, you can see that there's some sort of mini-lightsaber at the tip of his spear.

'It's a very brief, little thing but it's fun.

Although Gordon-Levitt is the first confirmed cameo in The Last Jedi, he's not the only one being talked about.

The Last Jedi hits theaters this December 15th, which can not arrive soon enough.
