Nintendo Switch 4.0.0 update adds video capture and save transfer

Nintendo Switch Update 4.0 Lets You Transfer Save Data

A tweet from the game's official account confirms that you'll be able to save the past 30 seconds of your journey via the Capture Button. On top of that, users can edit the footage and upload it to Twitter and Facebook - ideal for gloating on a global scale when you pip someone on the last lap of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe!

Speaking of not-quite-parity: The new screen recording feature is a similar half measure to the save data transfers. However this means that players can not back up their data in any way still in case of damage or loss of their Switch. Hopefully, we'll see video capture introduced across the board, so fans can share all their favorite clips and really get people excited for the Switch. All of that data, however, will be immediately deleted from the source console.

The new firmware also allows users to migrate games and user and saved game data to another Switch console. Second, it is only now compatible with The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, ARMS, Splatoon 2, and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, though more games will likely be added soon. "Probably the biggest four exclusives on the console, at least until "#Super Mario Odyssey" is released, with three of them heavily focusing on multiplayer.

This particular update took only a few minutes using our superfast broadband but you might find it takes a little longer on a slower connection. Nintendo, however, is said to be inviting developers and publishers to release more mature games for the Nintendo Switch, such as the violent first-person shooter Doom by Bethesda.

New profile icons featuring characters from Super Mario Odyssey and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.

Just go to the System Settings icon in the main menu on the Switch, then select "System" from the next menu. Click "update" to install it and the console will restart.
