Titans signing Brandon Weeden as Marcus Mariota recovers from injury

If Marcus Mariota can't play, it is likely no team will have an older pair of quarterbacks in uniform Sunday than the Tennessee Titans.

"He did have an MRI, and there is a strain of the hamstring", coach Mike Mularkey said Monday in a press conference.

"He's a pretty fast healer", Mularkey said. Murray missed the fourth quarter of that game and two practices during the next week.

Tennessee is discussing whether it will need to sign another quarterback to their active roster.

Mularkey added that the Titans will have plans for both Cassel and Mariota for this week and they may wait until as late as Sunday to name their starter. Matt Cassel replaced Mariota behind center and threw two interceptions and completed just four of 10 passes in his relief effort. At Chattanooga, Board played in 51 games, with 47 starts, and caught 146 passes for 2,032 yards and 10 touchdowns. Mariota could return, albeit in more of a pocket passer role, sooner than a skill position player with the same injury.

Mariota, who is 23, officially is considered day-to-day with a hamstring injury sustained during Sunday's 57-14 loss at Houston.

Mariota scored on a 34-yard run early in the second quarter.
