WatchOS 4 update addresses Apple Watch Series 3 LTE issue

Apple releases watchOS 4.0.1 w/ fix for LTE connectivity issues on Apple Watch Series 3

To download the update to your new Apple Watch, you can get it through the Watch app on your iPhone, which should also be running on iOS 11.

Apple released watchOS 4.0.1 on Wednesday with a fix for a problem where some Apple Watch Series 3 models with cellular connectivity support were connecting to unauthenticated public Wi-Fi networks. It seems the brand-new Apple Watch Series 3 with the latest watchOS would tend to automatically switch from LTE to WiFi hotspots - even unusable ones - in efforts to save battery. As far as we can tell from the release note, the only thing the update does is address the aforementioned LTE issue. The update comes two weeks following the release of watchOS 4.

watchOS 4.0.1 fixes issues that in rare cases were causing Apple Watch to join unauthenticated (captive) Wi-Fi networks, such as those found in public places like coffee shops and hotels, which direct the user to a webpage before the network can be accessed.
