Yankees are ready for a 'wild' ride Tuesday night

Jordan Montgomery had a breakout season this year

On the eve of the Yankees' American League wild-card game against the Minnesota Twins, Judge said he also knows those men are considered icons today because of what they accomplished in the postseason.

The Twins are a wild-card team for the first time this season, but they - or their forerunners, as Dozier would insist - have some experience at this one-and-done business. The victor of this game will take on the Central Division Champion Cleveland Indians on Thursday.

"Really, (for) this team, it doesn't mean a whole lot", Mauer said.

Postseason baseball has returned to the Bronx after a one-year absence.

NY counters with Luis Severino, who is 14-6 with a 2.98 ERA.

Twins manager Paul Molitor, a member of the 3,000-hit club, said he suggested that the Minnesota hitters do more guessing at the plate than usual to combat the right-hander's arsenal.

In spring training, the Twins packed players into classrooms to talk baserunning and defense.

The Minnesota Twins are in NY, in the postseason. Judge hit.329 with 30 home runs and 75 RBIs before winning the All-Star Home Run Derby, then slumped to a.179 batting average with seven homers, 16 RBIs and 67 strikeouts in 151 at-bats through August 31.

Betting line: The Yankees opened as -245 favorites (wager $245 to win $100); the total is at 7.5 runs, according to sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark (line updates and matchup report). "As long as he's continuing to do his thing, I'm not going to pull him too early".

The Yanks will be throwing right-handed pitcher, Luis Severino (14-8, 2.98 ERA) against Minnesota's right hander Ervin Santana (16-8, 3.28 ERA). Glen Perkins, who has missed all season with an injury in his throwing arm, and Joe Mauer being the only two players that played on the 2010 team who are now on the 2017 team. Those streaming the game can use the Watch ESPN service. The Yankees have seven legitimately outstanding relievers, including three at the back-end that are among the game's best. Only Brett Gardner, Greg Bird, Didi Gregorius and Chase Headley played for the Yankees in their last wild-card appearance, a 3-0 loss to the Houston Astros in 2015. Minnesota ranks fourth in the AL in both runs (815) and on-base percentage (.334).

The total has gone under in four of Minnesota's last five games.

"I do feel good about Dellin", Girardi said.

Wearing an "OCTOBER READY" workout T-shirt, Sanchez said that the young Yankees will "focus on being ready and have fun", trying their best to treat it as Game 163 of the season.
