Alabama quarterback Mac Jones charged with DUI


Alabama quarterback Mac Jones was charged with driving under the influence after being arrested Friday in Tuscaloosa.

The freshman was also charged with improper ID by a minor. The Tide play LSU on Saturday.

According to a Tuscaloosa Police spokesperson, police responded to a minor vehicle accident at 2:14 a.m. Jones, who was one of the drivers, was arrested after officers performed a field sobriety test.

Jones, a freshman, was released later Friday after posting a $1,300 bond.

"We are disappointed in Mac's actions and this is obviously not the kind of behavior we expect from our players", Nick Saban said in a statement. We will further evaluate what actions we need to take moving forward so we can correct the behavior. A Jacksonville native, Jones was a four-star recruit and the No. 9 pro-style quarterback in the class of 2017.

Jones is now third-string behind Tua Tagovailoa and Alabama's starter, Jalen Hurts. Alabama has yet to comment on this arrest, but the discipline figures to be handled in-house.
