Chelsea star Hazard names Belgium teammate De Bruyne as Premier League's best

Manchester City's Kevin De Bruyne can match Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo – Roberto Martinez

Kevin De Bruyne has the potential to become one of the world's best players alongside Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi but he will need to produce match winning performances on a consistent basis, Belgium manager Roberto Martinez said.

Few will disagree with Hazard, 26, who was also a club teammate of De Bruyne's briefly when the City playmaker was on Chelsea books before his move to Germany.

Martinez said of the out-of-sorts 24-year-old: "I think Romelu is an out-and-out goal-scorer and his numbers reflect that".

He has often been the man for the big occasion, with former Barcelona boss Pep Guardiola once again bringing the best out of a top creative talent.

"The level of performance that Kevin is having this season [and] the level of performance he had last campaign shows you that he has the potential of reaching those highs".

Romelu Lukaku made a bright start to life with Manchester United after sealing a £75 million summer transfer, but he has since gone seven games without a goal to face some uncomfortable questions.

"When a manager and a player hit the same way of thinking they become nearly a manager on the pitch". There is no apprehension related to my return from injury.

De Bruyne and Lukaku now form part of Martinez's plans as Belgium prepare to take in friendly dates with Mexico and Japan during the global break.

"It's easy to play with Kevin because we're good players".
