The Association of Boxing Commissions and Combative Sports (ABCCS) subsequently punished the lightweight champion by pulling him from next month's UFC 219.

Conor McGregor has apologised for his behaviour during the Bellator 187 event last weekend after he was barred from headlining UFC 219 due to his actions.

"I sincerely apologize for my behavior at last weekend's fight event in Dublin", McGregor posted to Instagram. I'm calling him out.

"I sincerely apologize to the Director of the Mohegan Tribe Department of Athletic Regulation, Mike Mazzulli, all the officials and staff working the event, [coach] Andy Ryan and his fighter John - two stonch [sic] ones that put up a great fight every time", McGregor wrote. That's all I'm going to say.

The 44-year-old fighter turned promoter, who has not fought since being battered to defeat by Manny Pacquiao in 2008, said he has been "secretly training" and is confident he could beat UFC champion McGregor. But the referee, Marc Goddard, had only signaled the end of a round-not the end of the fight-and while McGregor rampaged around the octagon, he got into it with Goddard.

McGregor - who remains under contract to UFC - is yet to respond to De La Hoya's comments.

De La Hoya further denigrated Mayweather-McGregor as nothing more than a money grab, which is how many would also view a De La Hoya-McGregor bout. Even against the wishes of the said fighter's coach. In the cage, he would freaking destroy me.

De La Hoya, on the other hand, has been involved in some of the most lucrative fights of the century. He previously discussed coming out of retirement in 2015 but never went through with the idea. His work has been featured on a number of publications, including Sherdog.com, MiddleEasy.com, ESPN.com, the abandoned WCL.com as well as his own site, ULTMMA.com (R.I.P). (My confidence) is how I feel now from my training.

There's no time frame for a return right now, or whether the UFC would be interested in another co-promotion with De La Hoya's "Golden Boy Promotions". I'm just making sure it ain't me.
