Donald Trump's Twitter Account Inadvertently Deactivated #Ooops

Donald Trump's Personal Twitter Account Vanished for One Beautiful Minute

The US President's love for the platform is well-documented.

Trump has made extensive use of messages on Twitter to attack his opponents and promote his policies both during the 2016 presidential campaign and since taking office in January.

Trump may or may not have had the last laugh this morning, tweeting: "I guess the word must finally be getting out-and having an impact".

Twitter took responsibility for the outage. "DM me & I will buy you a Pizza Hut pizza", tweeted Democratic Rep. Ted Lieu.

"It's one click if you have the rights to access the tool", the ex-employee told BuzzFeed News.

Here's the first tweet from the company.

Schneier said that there was little to be done to prevent such a thing happening again.

"We need to make sure that an intern cannot easily compromise that account", she said.

To err is human.

Twitter had addressed this matter beforehand and stated, "There was a discussion that for verified accounts or high profile ones, there'd be special protections (i.e. "2 keys") but it was never implemented", according to BuzzFeed.

Is it possible for an employee to access/deactivate an account of a President? In fact, at this time, the Obama administration was making a concerted effort to all take social media more seriously. That was until Twitter Government weighed in with successive tweets explaining what happened.

A Twitter employee, on his last day at the job, deactivated the account of Donald Trump on the social network. Less than 15 minutes elapsed before Twitter had the president's account back up and running. Twitter even once mistakenly banned the account of its CEO, Jack Dorsey. This is the @realDonaldTrump of today, and it was born on July 6, 2011, at 10:38 AM.

A spokeswoman from Twitter said no new information about the investigation would be released Thursday night.
