The death toll in a suicide bombing attack in Afghanistan's Green Zone on Tuesday has mounted to nine. "No casualties to our personnel".

The police officials said that at least 12 injured were taken to the Hospital in Kabul, where condition of six remains critical. "It was a horrible scene", an eyewitness told TOLOnews.

Last week a suicide bomber detonated his explosives-laden care near the Afghan military academy in the capital city, killing 15 cadets and wounding several others.

Gen. Dawlat Waziri, spokesman for the Defence Ministry, said the bomber was on foot.

Although both groups want to impose a harsh version of Islamic rule in Afghanistan, they are bitterly divided over leadership and ideology, and have clashed on a number of occasions.

Special truck scanners, barriers and permanent and mobile checkpoints have been rolled out across the city.
