Far Cry 5 features co-op for the entire campaign

New Far Cry 5 Trailer From Paris Games Week Shows Off Co-op Action

It seems like you can even play the main missions in the game, though only the host will be able to save their progress in the story.

Sony has unveiled a new trailer for Far Cry 5 at Paris Games Week, which highlights the co-op play for the story mode. In Far Cry 3, for example, the co-op mode had its own, original plot. Essentially, the trailer is showing off the fact that Far Cry 5 won't feature "lite" co-op, but will feature a co-op friendly campaign. As fanatical members of the Project work to cut off Hope County from the rest of the world, it's up to you and a select few to start a resistance group and drive the cult back to where they came from. Your Friend for Hire appears as a custom player character and can fight alongside you throughout the game, dropping in and out with full voice-chat support. One of the early new features showed of the game was a buddy system, akin to companions in RPG's like Fallout or Dragon Age.

On Far Cry 4, we kind of sequestered the player to the open world.

Freely explore Hope County's rivers, lands, and skies with the largest customizable weapon and vehicle roster ever in a Far Cry game. Once both players have completed the game's opening single player mission, the game's world opens up in co-op, with both players able to earn whatever XP, loot, and player progression they make during the co-op session.

As for when we can expect the game, it'll be coming out on February 27 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
