Jeremy Kerley suspended four games for PEDs: 'This is not right'

Jeremy Kerley has been suspended by the NFL

Kerley, in a statement, said he tested positive for Turinabol, but he took issue with the suspension, saying he was "shocked" because he's "never knowingly taken any banned substances". He is eligible to return on December 11 and will be able to play in New York's Week 15 game against the New Orleans Saints.

Kerley has reeled in 22 receptions for 217 yards and a touchdown in eight games this season for NY (4-5). While I did not have enough time prior to the deadline to resolve this case, I fully intend to investigate this matter until I am able to figure out what caused the positive test, because I know I have done nothing wrong.

In eight games this season, Kerley has 22 receptions for 217 yards and 1 touchdown on 27 targets.

"Those guys will get a lot more repetitions", Jets coach Todd Bowles said.

The New York Jets will be without one of their key offensive weapons as they try to make an unexpected push for the playoffs.

Kerley is the Jets' No. 3 receiver, behind Jermaine Kearse and Robby Anderson. When I find out what substance was tainted, I will pursue all remedies at that time because this is not right.

Jets wide receiver Jeremy Kerley talked about his potential suspension, reportedly for violating the NFL's policy on performance-enhancing drugs, on Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2017, in Florham Park.

Kerley, who regularly lines up in the slot, likely will be replaced by one of two rookies - ArDarius Stewart or Chad Hansen.

Kerley, 28, is in his second stint with the Jets.

The Jets (4-5) visit Tampa Bay (2-6) on Sunday. "I have and will always be a clean player, and I look forward to returning to the Jets to play against the Saints next month". He has also assumed the punt returning duties after Kalif Raymond was cut in September. However, even more hard will be replacing him as the primary punt returner on the squad in the coming weeks.
